I’m Simone Wu — a writer and editor with over two decades of experience shaping stories that connect across cultures and industries.
My path into writing wasn't conventional. I began with a diploma in mechanical engineering, then transitioned to fashion marketing and management, before discovering my passion for words in a public relations module. My lecturer recommended me for a Harper's Bazaar editorial internship, which I followed with an internship at ELLE Singapore. After a year in TV wardrobe styling (when writing jobs were scarce), I found my footing as a contract writer at STYLE: magazine.
The unconventional route left me with imposter syndrome for years—you can read the full story of why it took me 20 years to finally build this website. But over time, I realised that background was my strength — I could approach stories from multiple angles and write for anyone, from senior executives to the beauty-obsessed.
Most recently, I spent five years leading APAC-wide content strategy for a global recruitment firm, collaborating with teams across 12 markets. That cross-cultural work taught me something invaluable: great content transcends borders — it’s about finding the universal threads that connect us all.
Beyond corporate storytelling, I’m building two author identities: Wu Shimin, for children’s books inspired by the delightfully ridiculous things kids do; and Mongsy, for romance that’s bold and unapologetic. Different audiences, same storytelling craft.
When I’m not writing, you’ll probably find me with a book in hand, rearranging a corner of my home, or cheering (too loudly) at my son’s football matches.
Based in Singapore, I create stories that travel far beyond — because the best narratives know no boundaries.
Whether you're looking for content strategy and writing services or helpful resources for content creators, I'm here to help bring your stories to life.
